Saving Halloween is a virtual reality game created for the Building Virtual Worlds class at Carnegie Mellon University's Entertainment Technology Center. Teams of 5 are given two weeks to build a playable game on the assigned platform.
For our game, we were inspired by the Halloween season and wanted to put an interesting spin on the holiday. We decided to create am experience where the player needs to save Halloween because the local government has banned the holiday. Guests take on the role of a young witch who aims to inspire the children of her town to rebel and save Halloween by delivering candy to them. Guests grip candy from a bucket and throw it with the Oculus controllers while traveling on their broom. The objective is to inspire the children and have them help you fight the mayor to take back Halloween. Players win once the mayor has been defeated.
My responsibilities for the project included designing the level layout, designing the final boss fight, and creating the music and sound effects.
